Pakistan's Largest 3D Signage Installation — "Power The World" at Diamer Basha Dam

In October 2023, Design Hub took on what would become the most ambitious and record-breaking signage project in Pakistan's history — the design, fabrication, and installation of a monumental 3D signage installation at the Diamer Basha Dam site, reading "Power The World" — a fitting statement for a dam that will power millions of lives across the nation. Commissioned by PowerChina-FWO JV through DBCG (Diamer Basha Construction Group) — the principal contractor overseeing all construction operations at the dam — the project demanded a level of engineering, logistics, and endurance that few signage companies in Pakistan have ever faced. The numbers alone tell the story. The complete installation spans 71 metres wide — equivalent to 232.94 feet — with each letter standing 12 metres tall, equal to 39.3 feet. Combined, the total coverage area of the installation reaches an extraordinary 852 square metres — equivalent to 9,154 square feet — making this not only the largest 3D signage installation ever completed in Pakistan, but one of the most significant large-format signage achievements in the region. To put that into perspective, the signage alone covers an area larger than most commercial buildings. But the sheer scale of the letters was only one dimension of the challenge. The Diamer Basha Dam site sits in the heart of Pakistan's northern mountain range — a remote, high-altitude location battered by extreme wind conditions that made both transportation and structural installation extraordinarily demanding. Every letter had to be precision-fabricated to withstand those winds, carefully loaded, and transported across mountain roads from our Islamabad warehouse all the way to the dam site — a logistical operation as complex as the fabrication itself. The deadline was unforgiving — a maximum window of 25 to 30 days to complete everything: design, fabrication, transport, and full on-site installation. To meet it, Design Hub mobilised its full Islamabad team under the on-ground leadership of Mr. Ijaz Ahmed, running day and night double shifts without pause throughout the fabrication phase. Work began on 21st October 2023. Despite the scale — 71 metres wide, 12 metres tall, 852 square metres of total coverage — the mountain terrain, the relentless wind, and the ticking clock, our team delivered without compromise. Every letter was fabricated, transported, and installed with precision. The project was completed and handed over in just 25 days — six full days ahead of the maximum deadline of 21st November 2023. "Power The World" now stands at one of Pakistan's most iconic national infrastructure sites — visible across the valley, engineered to endure, and representing the scale of ambition that Diamer Basha Dam embodies for Pakistan's future. This is not just Design Hub's biggest project. It is our proudest achievement — a defining moment for our studio, for Peshawar, and for Pakistani craftsmanship on a national stage. The success of this project opened the door to two further commissions at the same site, all awarded by the same contractor — a testament to the trust our delivery continues to earn.

Challenge

Extreme wind conditions The high-altitude Diamer Basha Dam site experiences extreme wind speeds, making structural installation of large-format 3D letters a significant engineering and safety challenge. Mountain logistics Transporting oversized fabricated letters from our Islamabad warehouse to a remote mountain site required careful planning, specialist logistics, and precise coordination. 25-day maximum deadline The project window was set at 25–30 days, requiring our team to run day-and-night double shifts throughout fabrication without compromising structural integrity or finish quality.

Approach

Design Hub accepted the challenge and immediately mobilised its Islamabad team under the leadership of Mr. Ijaz Ahmed. Fabrication began on 21st October 2023 with day and night double shifts running continuously at the Islamabad warehouse. Each letter was precision-engineered for structural resilience against high winds. Upon completion, the letters were carefully transported through mountain terrain to the Diamer Basha Dam site, where the installation team completed full on-site fitting and handover.

Outcome

"Power The World" — 12m × 71m — Pakistan's largest 3D signage installation. Fabricated in Islamabad. Installed at Diamer Basha Dam. Delivered in 25 days." IA Mr. Ijaz Ahmed — Project Lead, Islamabad Office This project stands as Design Hub's greatest achievement — and a landmark moment for Pakistani craftsmanship on a national stage. The Diamer Basha Dam commission opened the door to two further projects at the same site, all awarded through the same contractor relationship built on consistent delivery.
